Where the River Flows

Ponds By Micah, grade 1

Sitting by the cool ponds
watching the river flow.
Looking all around, you
see the river flow.
When all your rhymes come
right up to your mind.
When you come to it.
You’ll write a poem.
You will watch the river flow
and want to build a bridge over the river.

River by Michaela, grade 1

A flowing stream
crystal clear
rocks and sparkling shimmer,
light calms with peace
and little creeks.
It rushes really fast with trails
of water that lead to the creek
to the river with
bridges and rocks
shaped like
different things.

River by Micah and Michaela, grade 1

Water rushes
with ponds that flow slow.
Rocks in holes that open
and close
full of sparkling sunlight.

Water!!! By AJ, grade 4

Water: Moving fast or slow or not at all.  Lakes, creeks, rivers, streams, ponds, and other places have water.  It sparkles usually.  It is aqua and when moving, sometimes white.  Water is very powerful and fast moving.  It can make its own path.  Water is also home to many animals and plants.  It must be important because it covers most of the earth.  Water is home for fish, plants, dolphins, sharks, whales, and many many other animals and everything living needs water.

Peace by Oakley, grade 4

I sit under the tree that looks
not happy or sad, and alone. I see the sad
reflection of the tree in the pool of
water.  It is nice and peaceful near
where I’m sitting with the lullaby of
the birds, the wind, and the gushing
water.  I feel happy.

Untitled by Kai, grade 5

Stretching out like arms
over the water, they would float
away if they were to falter.
Their roots are down in the
dirt taking in all that cold wet water
their leaves are stretched out
from them like umbrellas.  They’re
waving in the wind, taking in the
sun.

Untitled by Olivia, grade 5

If you sit on this rock
and look out on the clearing
you can see the water
skimming the rocks as
it makes its way down
Railroad Creek.  It moves
peacefully and steadily along.
Then look up and see
the huge mountains and
see them basking in the
warmth of the sun
and see the
plush green trees standing
tall and proud, like soldiers
ready for battle.

Untitled by Christopher, grade 6

It runs down a hill
like a rock falling from the sky.
It gives homes to many creatures.
Life abounds in this place.
It can be really nice and really deadly.
It’s sometimes enjoyable and sometimes
terrible.  It destroys many things and
it gives life to many things.

The First Day of School

by Christopher, Grade 6

"The first day of school" watercolor by Christopher, Grade 6

The first day of school was very exciting.  There was a bus that went around the whole village and picked everybody student up from there chalet. Everybody was dressed up as someone else.  I was Espen.  The bus was an hour 30 minutes late because people made the bus slow down every 5 meters.  Example: People dressed up as grandpa and grandma on electric wheelchairs were going to bingo and stopped in front of the bus. Somebody had coffee break. Someone was sitting on a toilet and the toilet exploded. Then the OPS had a song and they started dancing around the toilet then fixed it. Then it was my turn to go to school I busted through the papered door dressed up as Espen. It was very fun. Then we went up to the second level so that we would be late for school. When we got back people took lots of pictures of us. After that we broke every caution tape and got into class.
